1. Overview
PDFSlick ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website https://pdf-slick.com. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
The most important thing to know about PDFSlick: your PDF files and documents are never uploaded to our servers. All file processing happens entirely inside your web browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device.
Privacy by design: We cannot see, access, or store your files because they are processed locally on your own device. This is not a policy choice — it is the technical architecture of PDFSlick.
2. How We Process Your Files
PDFSlick uses client-side technologies to process your documents entirely within your browser:
- pdf-lib (version 1.17.1) — for creating, modifying, and merging PDF documents
- PDF.js (version 3.11.174) — for rendering and reading PDF files
- JSZip (version 3.10.1) — for packaging multiple output files into ZIP archives
These libraries run entirely within your browser's JavaScript engine. The workflow for every tool on PDFSlick is:
- You select a file from your device — it is read into your browser's memory only.
- The browser processes the file using the libraries listed above.
- The output file is generated in your browser's memory.
- You download the output file directly to your device.
At no point in this workflow does any file content, file name, or file metadata leave your device or travel over the internet.
3. Personal Data We Collect
Because all file processing is local, we do not collect, process, or store any personal data contained in your documents.
The limited data we do collect falls into two categories:
3.1 Data You Provide
PDFSlick does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal information (such as your name or email address) to use any of our tools. We do not have any user registration or contact forms on the main tools pages.
3.2 Automatically Collected Technical Data
When you visit PDFSlick, standard web server logs and analytics tools may automatically record:
- Your IP address (anonymized before storage)
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Referring URL
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Date and time of your visit
- General geographic region (country/city level, derived from anonymized IP)
This data is used only in aggregate to understand how PDFSlick is used, to fix bugs, and to improve the service. It is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Google Analytics
PDFSlick uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the website. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit the site, what pages they visit, and what other sites they used prior to coming to PDFSlick.
4.1 What Google Analytics Collects
- Pages visited and time spent on site
- Browser and device type
- Approximate geographic location (country/region)
- Referral sources (how you found PDFSlick)
- Interactions with page elements (clicks, scrolls)
4.2 IP Anonymization
We have enabled IP anonymization in Google Analytics. This means Google truncates your IP address before storing it, making it impossible to identify you precisely from your IP address.
4.3 Opting Out
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by:
- Installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
- Using a browser with built-in tracking protection (e.g., Firefox with Enhanced Tracking Protection enabled)
- Using an ad/tracker blocker extension
For more information on how Google uses data, see Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Google AdSense & Advertising
PDFSlick is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on our website. Advertising revenue allows us to keep all tools free for everyone.
5.1 How AdSense Works
Google AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to PDFSlick and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to PDFSlick and/or other sites on the internet.
5.2 Personalized Advertising
By default, Google may show you personalized ads based on your browsing history. You may opt out of personalized advertising by:
- Visiting Google's Ads Settings
- Visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page
- Visiting the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page
5.3 No Ad Data Linked to Files
Since your files are never uploaded to our servers, no information about your files, their content, or your document-processing activity is ever used for advertising purposes.
7. Third-Party Services
PDFSlick integrates the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy that governs how they handle data:
- Google Fonts — We use Plus Jakarta Sans from Google Fonts. When your browser loads this font, a request is made to Google's servers. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics — Usage analytics. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google AdSense — Advertising. See Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your personal information to any third parties. We do not share your personal information with third parties except as described in this policy.
8. Children's Privacy
PDFSlick is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take the necessary steps.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
9.1 General Rights
- Right to Access — You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Deletion — You can request that we delete your personal data.
- Right to Correction — You can request that we correct inaccurate personal data.
- Right to Object — You can object to our processing of your personal data.
Because PDFSlick does not require accounts and does not link analytics data to individual identities, fulfilling such requests for analytics data may not be technically possible. However, you can always opt out of analytics and advertising tracking using the methods described in Sections 4 and 5.
9.2 GDPR (European Economic Area)
If you are located in the EEA, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the rights listed above plus the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Our legal bases for processing data under GDPR are:
- Legitimate interest — for analytics to improve the service
- Consent — for advertising cookies (where required by law)
9.3 California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
Continued use of PDFSlick after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
